Biophilic design promotes a sense of significance and meaning to a particular location and a sense of responsibility for our environment  (1, 2).  Opportunities for meaningful connections can produce place attachment.

Use of local and natural materials.

Expand individual and collective identity of a place. May incorporate vernacular architecture, geographical, historic and ecological attachments.

Sustain connection to the local ecosystem.

Create a connection to the passing of time, evoking a sense of continuity to the present and future.

Emphasize geological features of the site through orientation and views.
