Elevating Well-Being Through Biophilic Design: Creating Nurturing Environments

Discover how making small changes to your physical surroundings can promote wellness. To truly grasp the essence of wellbeing-focused design, the talk helps participants identify how understanding the stressors that overwhelm can unlock a key to nurturing emotional well-being in the spaces we design. The presentation delves into the tangible ways stress manifests in our bodies and explores how it impacts our emotional state. With this insight, attendees will uncover the potential of adding biophilic design elements to built environments—enhancing well-being, reducing stress, and improving the human experience. Participants will leave with practical techniques to incorporate biophilic and nature-inspired elements, creating spaces that foster emotional wellbeing.

Keynote: Calm the Chaos! How to enhance your emotional wellbeing with biophilic and nature-based practices

Free your mind and focus on your senses as we learn to calm the chaos we all experience. Biophilic design and nature immersion practices address the human response to natural surroundings and explain that people thrive in nurturing environments. Biophilic and nature-based principles can also be applied to our own comfort, well-being, and healing so we can be our best selves—personally and professionally.

Together we will engage in an embodiment exercise and use that experience to understand how we process and experience stress in our physical bodies and how that impacts our bandwidth. Learn tools to recognize how stressors begin to overwhelm us. Take away easy-to-adopt nature-based practices that can help you feel more grounded and authentic—practices to help you flourish!

Women in Green | USGBC Day of Renewal
September 8, 2023

Your words. Your story. The mic is open.

Taking control of your own narrative is an incredibly powerful act and it is the driving thought behind Women in Green 2023.

Women are represented across the full spectrum of professional careers in the building industry. With career goals and life aspirations, we define ourselves without gendered limits. At Women in Green, we unapologetically celebrate, sharing our experiences and honoring our impact as professionals. We acknowledge the past while defining ourselves and the future – and all without altering who we are or asking permission.

Women in Green is a platform to gather, and learn from others across fields and disciplines, generations, and job titles. Join us in 2023 as we together, write (or rewrite) our stories, self-titled.

(It's not officially listed yet, but I will be offering TWO forest therapy walks as part of our day together!)
